How can i get IE to recognize the new Windows Media player for OSX? I've downloaded the program, but everytime I click on some ASF music video, IE tells me that the plugin can not be found. please help thanks
 
I tried Win Media Player to open an AVI file I had recieved, and it didn't work, even though it played fine on a PC. Its bad enough M$ pedal these proprietry formats, now they don't even support them all.
Oh, well, at least it works for SOME things.
 
There were a couple of things I had to do, but I now have the player running/launching as it should:

1) Delete the player AND PLUGINS for the classic version (so, yes, it seems you have to choose, you can't have both)

2) In the Protocol Helpers of the Preferences panel (in IE), add "mms" then choose the OS X version of the player as the default application.

I know some people have had issues where removing the Classic player didn't work, but it worked for me!
