Wired Ethernet Cannot Connect to Internet

Really odd problem. I can get on the network at work on Wi-Fi but cannot get on using wired. However, if I plug in at home, wired works just fine. The only different, I'm guessing is that home uses a 192.168.15.x network and work uses 192.168.1.x network. Could it be a route issue? I tried flush the routes and no joy. I'm not even sure how to diagnose the issue.

One interesting thing to note, it over wired, I can ping the 192,168.1.1 router but cannot pull up the web page for it. However on wi-fi I can ping it and access the web page. Odd...

DHCP, but I've tried a static address as well...

No Proxies, the Router is a D-Link DIR-655. It's connected to a Motorola Cable modem connected to a Comcast.

DHCP, but I've tried static too... also it's connected to a D-Link DR-655 router, which is connected to a Motorola Cable modem connected to Comcast.

No proxies... Ethernet is all the defaults, nothing special...

When you connect via ethernet at work, does your computer receive a valid IP address and it just can't access the internet, or are you not receiving a valid IP address at all?

Have you talked with the systems administrator about their network setup, and if they restrict access in any way? It could be that they're blocking any kind of computer connection that is not specifically a work-related computer.

OK, bizzare... Just for an experiment, I control the network here at work. So I changed the router to for DHCP to use 192.168.0.X instead of 192.168.1.x for the network. Works fine. So the issue is using 192.168.1.x network... How can I just clear out what ever is screwing this up? Can I delete the interface and re-add it?

Strange -- could it be that your wireless network was already operating in the 192.168.1.X range (if you had a wireless network as well), causing the ethernet connection not to work in that same range?
