Wireless network adaptors

Do I have to buy an Apple Airport card or can I get a usb wireless network adaptor for my mac mini?

You can use a USB to Ethernet Wireless adapter.

The Airport Extreme card will probably give
you much better reception/signal strength
than a USB wireless adapter.

Reason being I'm getting a mac mini in the next couple of days but don't want to wait 4 weeks for it from Apple as they are the only places that sell them with the airport card as their an optional extra.

USB to Ethernet Wireless? Got a link? Never heard of one of those...

You can always get an Ethernet to Wireless adaptor -- those will work with just about anything that has an Ethernet port.
