wireless network monitor?

I want to know is that is there any software that I can use to monitor or control Network traffic in my company? Sometime I connect my laptop to a wireless router and it's very slow to use remote desktop, transfer file or access to Internet. but It is as fast as normal on the server or other computer connected to the main switch. So I want to know if there is any software to solve this problem.

I have used VisualRoute, http://www.visualroute.com/. This should give you some information about the latency and number of stops between your computer and your destination.

But I don't have any experience with serious network analysis software, for example looking at the entire network load.
