Wireless Networking (mac to pc)

Hey, I'm trying to set up a wireless network between my Imac and this horrible Windows laptop my sister uses. I went out and baught a linksys wireless router followed the instructions step by step and voila ! my Imac works with it brilliantly using the built in airport. However, when I go into this wireless networking options on the laptop my network isn't showing up at all.

I know nothing about networking (obviously) does anyone have any ideas what i could be doing wrong? the routers a linksys WRT54GS I'm not sure what other details you might need so just ask and ill post them.

I know nothing really!!

But I managed to set up a network using the Go pull down in Finder and choosing "Network". All the computers you can connect to will appear (eventually) in the window. Sometimes the window chosen this way disappears from the screen :( but it will appear again if you choose the Network option from the sidebar of any window.

I had to go to "Sharing" in System Prefs an turn on some sharing options. Seems to work, but it was more luck than anything else :)

EDIT: Updated the driver for the wireless hardware on the laptop (which I now know is an intel pro 2200BG) which gave it support for the WPA Personal TKIP security setting I wanted. Now, Everything is working great still on my mac, when I got into the router settings both my mac and the laptop are showing up but when I try to connect the XP laptop to the network it all goes wrong.

It picks up the network and starts to connect but then fails the authentication saying that the password is incorrect (which I know it isn't because I've retyped it in there about 10 times). Are there some other settings im missing or something?

Nevermind I solved it myself while waiting. I'll post the answer incase anyone else ever has the same problem. I had to change from WPA to WEP and use the hexidecimal codes instead of a regular password.
