Wireless printing issue with partner

My partner is running OSX 10.2.8 with Airport 3.1.1 (latest version for this operating system). The problem is that this setup will not allow printing wirelessly.

On my set-up (OS 10.3.5) printing via airport to the USB printing works fine via IP printing to 10.0.1.1. However using the same details i cannot get this to work on my partners system.

I would be grateful for any help that can be provided. I have pinged the IP from the system causing the problems and that works as does wireless internet.

The print is connected to an airport express. Printer is a HP PS 7350. It works fine via my mac, i print to it via IP print. However doesn't work with OS 10.2.8 as per previous post. Third partner drivers are installed on both machines. I think the problem has to be connecting to the printer.

A print job will just look for 10.0.1.1 forever or just give up but workede like a treat on mine. The machine in question can see the network as i have piged to the machine and from the machine and all works as does accessing the internet.

I use foomatic. These work well. Gimp drivers do not work through wireless printing. But i dont think this is the problem.

Open the Print Center. Hold down the Option key and click on Add Printer. Pull down the list of printer types. The Option key will cause a new item to appear in the list called Advanced. Choose Advanced. A list of devices will appear. Choose AppSocket/HP JetDirect. Note that you use the HP JetDirect device regardless of the manufacturer of the printer connected to the base station, because the base station acts like an HP JetDirect print server.

Type in something for Device Name, whatever you like. Type in the device URL as socket://10.0.1.1:9100, which is the default IP address of an Airport Extreme base station. Check your base station settings if you are unsure of its address. The address must match the base station's actual address, and the :9100 must be there exactly as it is. From here, the steps have also been well documented. Pull down Printer Model and choose the manufacturer and choose the printer model from the list. Click Add
