Wireless router?

I don't need or have the cash to buy the Airport base station. I need to find a cost effective and functional wireless router. It will be used to hook up an iBook and an XBOX. The XBOX wont be wireless since my regular router sits next to it. Any suggestions?

D-link 614+
I payed 89Euro and it works great. After a firmware-update it is supposed to allow 44Mbit/sec transfer, but you can't use it with the airport cards. ;) Anyway, good router with many nice options.

As long as the router is 802.11b or 802.11g it will work with Airport. The one Zammy-Sam suggested is probably 802.11a, which isn't as compatible as either of the other two. I wouldn't use it if I were you.
Go to Cnet.com and look at some of the wireless routers they have there :)

I don't exactly remember the model number, but I just bought a new Netgear Wireless router. It has 4 ports for my machines that don't move; has the routing functions; and provides a wireless access point for my iBook. I have the original Airport card in the iBook. My original base station died (Airport) and for WAY less money I got all these functions. There's even a model of the same router with the cable modem built in. AND there's a model for the faster wireless. Check out Netgear's site. Very simple. Very good. I've had no problems at all. (And I even have an old VAX mini connected and can telnet wirelessly from the laptop to it.) The web interface to manage it is flawless. They've really done a good job updating the web interface. You won't be disappointed.

You don't need 802.11g for an iBook, they only support 802.11b. It would be a waste of money to get an 802.11g station.

Unless he is thinking outside the box and may update his ibook later to something that can handle it (g). The routers are cheap and he could make the decision now to plan for the future.
