I just got a new Mac laptop. My wireless router is pretty far from the places so I can't get a very good signal anywhere, and lose the connection pretty often. That's fine, the problem is, my instant messenger programs don't realize it until around five minutes later. They're signed off, but I don't know it, and it seems like I can still IM people, even though they don't get them. This happens with Adium, AIM for Macs, and iChat. I've set them to not auto-sign on (which makes me give the sign on command after they log off), but that doesn't make a difference. Furthermore, it doesn't tell me when I momentarily lose my connection, so I don't know when to sign off and on. Is there anything I can do to:
Get a program that detects losing the connection sooner or set the ones I've got to do it? And. . .
Set it to tell me when I lose the connection?
