I've got avi files, that need that component to work on VLC.
I don't know if its just an instenction...I was told wmv3 is still unavailable for mac users...

Is there anyway I could play my files?

No. Not currently. WMV3 is not supported in .avi files on the Mac. Not in VLC, not with the Flip4Mac plugin and not with MS' Windows Media Player. You'll need a PC to play this file.

Since Microsoft has stopped developing WMP for Mac, it doesn't seem like we'll _ever_ get support for WMV3-in-avi-files.

It doesn't even matter than Microsoft stopped supporting WMP. Even Microsoft does not support WMV3 video in avi files! (They want everyone to use WMV files.) This is a completely unsupported format. It should never, ever be used. Unfortunately, some people do use it (although it's rare).

It sucks, but there's nothing you can do about it, except maybe email the Flip4Mac guys and plead with them to support AVI files.
