Won’t read DVD-video discs, and slow CD read speed

Hi! For a long time my Ti PowerBook has been reading cd’s slowly, nearly since I got it I think. And now. 2 months later, it won’t accept DVD-video disc’s.

Whenever I insert one, it makes weird noises and spits it out again.
What’s happening, is it a firmware problem? Maybe it’s since I upgraded to 10.2.4?(I DID hear about some folks having their DIMMS after the upgrade)

Or maybe it’s pure and simple a faulty drive, if so, can I get it replaced free of charge?

I inserted a "CD-cleaner" cd once maybe two weeks ago, do you think that might have messed up something? :eek:

YAY! Suddenly managed to read a DVD under OS9, apperas maybe to be a dirty lens or something!?

LATER NOTE: The DVD I managed to read, also had DVD-ROM content, wich makes sense since it can read the Apple Software Restore without problems. This drives me crazy.....
