Word X

How can I open third-party application files, f.e. WordPerfect documents in Word X? The onyl document filters I can discover are Word and AppleWorks - but what about StarOffice, Lotus, WordPerfect and others?
Or do I have to take this as a sign that my WordPerfect data are "history"?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Regarding WP, you need to get hold of DataViz's MacLinkPlus. It will open most text file formats that you will encounter.

And now on top of all - my beta version of Office v. X has expired "in the middle of nowhere". And my full retail version won't be here beofre Xmas. Oops... What can I do? All suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I have a GM prerelease and to fix that's expiration, jsut set back your system clock to liek nov. 1st

just remember to set it back before you send mail. otherwise your mail will end up lost in the past for anyone who sorts by date and time.
