Would this word on my mac?

If it's anything like my M-Audio MIDISport USB 2x2, then it might require some software to be pushed down through USB from the computer to the device. My MIDI interface mentioned above actually uses the software for said operating system (Mac or Windows) to push down firmware information in order for the MIDI interface to work. This is why even though it lights up under Linux when I enable the usb-audio or usb-midi modules, it doesn't process any MIDI events.

It's possible that it only has software available for Windows that might do something similar like in my MIDI interface. Hopefully not, but usually with USB devices lately, a lot of the tasks that would have required hardware inside that USB device has been supplanted by software alternatives in order to make the device cheaper.
