Hello
I've been playing world of warcraft for 5+ years on a private server without having any problems with the online installer before- in the past the client would run perfectly without fail. But I had to reinstall because I prefer to have blizzard automatically download the patches to my mac. but i need to reinstall the game also.
im 90% sure I have everything wow related wiped from my HD
the past couple months i have been trying to use this client to download wow. the program will freeze for like 5 minutes, then a window will pop up saying testing internet connection speed, and then another 5 minutes after that a window will pop up saying: "failed to read information from the internet. please close all applications and try again". Obviously I quit every application and it still did the same thing.
I have tried the following
Disabling my firewall
opening a port to blizzard's servers
repairing disk permissions
deleting the com.blizzard.trywow.plist
deleting and reinstalling the client
and flushing the cache
I have an iMac G5 PPC /w 512mb RAM
I have also noticed the same thing when trying to do software updates- network error. (which I don't get because i have been able to type this on my mac and play counter-strike)
im not sure if i have security programs installed
thank you
