Wow OmniWeb is CPU hungry!

I noticed my 700MHz with 786 RAM was getting a bit sluggish with DWMX and iTunes running, so I got a little annoyed, checked top, and got a nice surprise:

Code:
3313 OmniWeb 49.6% 61:05.56 52 453 1079 38.1M 33.4M 49.2M 301M

46%!! It's finished loading a single static plain HTML page off my HD (file:// not from 127.0.0.1), and the app's hidden to boot!

I'm running a theme (milk) if that makes a difference.

What's going on? Has anyone else seen this? It's seriously making me rethink my OmniWeb bias...

no but moving a window can make finder shoot up to 99% CPU usage. if the browser is performing a task, then i wouldn't say 49% CPU usage is uncommon. if you're not using the CPU for anything else at the time, omniweb might as well be. the more CPU it uses, the faster the specific task its performing will get done.

if it were me, i'd be more concerned that its using around 50MB of memory.

you might want to check how many pageouts you have in "top."

Hehe yeah I know that...

The idea was that it was hidden, completely loaded, one window, and had a sustained (not burst) for as long as I watched top, which was a good 2 minutes.

It seems to have been anomalous however, since it's not doing it now...so I'm not too concerned.

Thanks for your replies.
