wpa password

Hi can anyone help?, at present i am running a seimens laptop through a netgear wireless router, now i have added an Imac to the equation, everything is working fine, the aiport card has found the network of the netgear until i try to encypt/secure the network, the laptops fine but the imac is asking for a password i type the wpa password that i use for the laptop to connect to the wireless network but its telling me that its wrong, i have tryed this countless times but its not happening, what password does it want? {Wireless routers do they drive you crazy?}

Put $ sign before the WPA password and it should work (i.e. if your password is 1234, use $1234)
