Wrong capacity for CD-R

I don't know if anyone can help me with this but I've encountered a problem with some CD-Rs I've just purchased. They're supposed to have a capacity of 800mb but when I insert them and 'get info' I'm told the capacity is only 38mb so consequently I can't write the files I need onto them. Why is this? They're completely blank...

I didn't even know there were 800MB CDs... I thought they were all 700MB/80Min now unless you still get the original 74 Minute ones.

80 minute cds are actually 800mb. 74 minute cds are actually about 750mb. the extra ~100 mb is used by every format (except CD-Audio) for "error correction".
As for this actual problem..Sounds like dodgy discs.

Me too. I have some blank good TDK 800MB and toast says that they are 38MB. On PCs they are perfectly recognized.
