X.1 + Airport

Is there a way to use a power mac G4 desktop as Hub instead of usin g an airport station???? i know this is possible under OS 9 ..is there a way on OSX?? do i need an extra software?? if so wich one and where can i get it?

I just checked, and it seems as if they dropped this feature. I am running a hardware basestation, but I just checked the Airport Assistant, and it only says "join existing network" or "create network". I know that under classic, there is the third option "configure this mac as a software basestation". The lack of this option implies that it is no longer possible. So I fear that the answer is no.

There was some discussion of this on the macnn forums. You can set up OS X to forward IP from one interface to the other and vice versa. My guess is that AppleTalk forwarding would be a problem, though.

It shouldn't be a problem for a pro to get a squiddy (or whatever the BSD equivalent is called, I remember there is one) up and running, but this is far away from beeing easy.
