X app to scribe music (plain manuscripts)?

I'm having a frustrating time finding any MacOS X apps to scribe music.

The only thing I've found that even comes close is a (in my opinion) rediculous app that costs $15 USD and just formats blank staves and prints them to PDF--and they're ugly to boot. This is rediculous to me because I can buy stave pads for $2 at any bookstore, and that's $2 Canadian!

I want an app that displays a stave, and lets me pop notes, rests, ties, etc. into it. I don't need to be able to hear any MIDI or sampled representation, I just want to make a manuscript, save and print it.

Am I totally out of luck?

finale 2003, sibelius, melody assistant X. finale 2003 is OS 9 only though x_x. sibelius is my choice for ease of use and power. melody assistant is $15.

all of these come with midi export/import, too.

Cool thanks boi I'll check those out.

The former two are however, very expensive. Bt I suppose that's to be expected...
