I can access my on-line bank using Internet Explorer but I can't with Safari. When I try I get the following message "The page “https://ebank.hoaresbank.co.uk/hoare-sec/shtml/index3.html” has content of MIME type “application/x-java-vm”. Because you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type, this content can’t be displayed." I have used the Help menu to list the installed plug-ins and there are only 2 x-java- plug-ins listed. Where do I get the missing plug in and how do I load it into Safari?

It works fine here. You don't need any extra software because Java is part of MacOS X. I can only speculate about why your installation of Java does not work. I notice that you have given no information about your system. Perhaps, you have not updated your OS in a very long time and are running a Java VM that is too old for your banking system.

It doesn't run on my machine either, and I've got all the Java developer tools installed.

Oops, Leopard with all the updates and Xcode 3.0 with all the Java developer goodies installed.

Xcode should have nothing to do with it. This is not a development system issue. This is a Java VM issue. Launch the Java Preferences app to see your settings.
