Thank you for the response. You don't really need to give Grandma level of detail. I was just getting very frustrated when I wrote that
I had previously installed Apple's X11 and the OO installation. I even previously tried the soffice path, because that looked likely.
Just did it all again including an un/reinstall of OO. Selecting the Open Office entry still does nothing, not even an error message.
The installer does complain that XDarwin does not exist.
If I type in the script supplied in the final window of the installer (basically command line execution) I get a bus error!
