X11 Ide ??

Does anyone know of any faster IDE's for X11? Project builder takes nearly 7 minutes to compile a page of code on a G3 iMac DV 400mhz. At school even when compiling off a floppy it's still much faster than the dev tools. Any help would be greatly appreciated... and if this post doesn't get many replies here maybe a moderator would be kind enough to move it to the Unix section.

Woah... that is rather funky if you are getting results THAT slow. Metrowerks is faster, but holy cow... I was compiling small apps (3-4 files, each a couple thousand lines) in less time on a 300Mhz 604e running 10.1.5!
 
Well, what I am trying to say is that you shouldn't be getting those times, even with Project Builder. What all is running in the background when you are doing a compile?

Also, what version of the Dev Tools are installed on which OS version?
 
even when running now applications in other than pb i get thoughs times .... im running the dev tools that came with the 10.1 install disk
