XDarwin and xdm on Mandrake 8?

Hi,

Has anyone been able to use XDarwin to connect to the X server on the Mandrake dist of Linux?

I've tried this successfully with a Solaris 8:

x -query hostname -quartz

But issuing the same command again my Linux box only gives me the gray X Window screen with the X mouse cursor, no login screen at all. And if I look back in the terminal window where I issued the command, I get the following lines:

Display mode: Full screen Quartz
Screen 0 added: 1024x768 @ (0,0)
XDM: too many retransmissions

I've setup the Linux box to start X whenever it boots up and it seems to be running fine, so I guess XDM does run automatically, if I understand this correctly. But I am just not able to connec to it from my PowerBook running 10.1.3.

I am not really familiar with how X Window works, and I am wondering if someone here have any idea on what I should try next.

Kilowatt: Why do you just post saying you will post later...I'm just doing the same kinda thing you are doing right now, but you are just trying to get popular or feel good about yourself.
