XDarwin install changed GUI encoding!

I installed XDarwin 2 days ago. Since then, the swiss french encoding doesn't work anymore for finder and dock, showing stuff like "Aper?%u“. Trying to correct that from the System prefs "International" doesn't change anything.
Do I have to go through a system repair process, or is there another way to solve the problem?

How did you installed XDarwin and from where?

XDarwin wouldn't mess with the finder or the dock.

I downloaded it as from sourceforge, then used the installers (XInstall + XFree86 4.2.1.1). XDarwin itself works fine, except that encoding is a mess now
