Xserve boot from external CDROM?

Hello all,

Is there a way to get my Xserve G5 to boot off an external CDROM?
I have tried to use both USB and Firewire but not having much luck.

I tried popping out the harddrive before powering on, the external CDROM seems to have activity when it powers up, but then I get the Apple logo and gets stuck at a 'no' sign (circle with slash in middle) thereafter.

Edit: Finally got it to work.
