I've been attempting to run Mathematica remotely for a while now, and have been plagued by many fonts problems.
I've more or less fixed them (I still get one of 4 previous error messages, but things seem to work), with one big nuisance of a problem:
(well two):
First: When I ssh -X from a terminal started by my .xinitrc, stuff from xset and DISPLAY information does not get passed in or something, and I get the same old errors. I do not encounter these errors in terminals run from the X11 Applications menu. Is there some code that the menu executes that I don't know about?
Second: (and more importantly) When I reboot my computer the computer no longer knows where the fonts are and I have to rerun
xset fp+ directory/where/fonts/are
xset fp rehash
How can I make sure my changes stick through reboots?
Any suggestions much appreciated. I'm running 10.3 on a G3 900MHz iBook with X11 for Apple, Fink, Eterm as startup, anad xterm as my X11 menu terminal.
