any UNIX IRC clients that would work via OSX's command line?

I don't know why, but I think it would be sweet to have a CLI irc client on my Mac. Is there anything out there like this?

I got in and ran ./configure but it gave me an error:
error: no acceptable cc found in $PATH

Does anyone happen to know what that means?

You need the developer tools which provides cc (C compiler) and other tools.

http://www.bitchx.org - BitchX and http://www.blackened.com/blackened/ - Blackened are two good clients that I've used. I believe that bitchx is derived from ircII but i don't know because i haven't looked into that.

The one I use (occasionally) and like to recomend is called Epic and is also built upon ircII. And to get it more "user friendly" I use a script called Third Eye.

I wasn't able to compile bitchx. However, I too use ircII ('irc' on the command line). It works great and never fails
