Hello, everyone.
I have a database of more than 100.000 files on several external HDDs, all formatted with OS X. I recently bought two WD 1.5 Tb WorldBook Edition II, which can be attached to a switch, so that I can free up a computer without having tons of cables and mountains of hard drives on the desk.
The problem: When I try to copy the files from the old database (OS X) to the 1.5 Tb HDD, after copying several files, I receive an error and the operation stops: "The files cannot be copied. Filename too long or contains characters which cannot be copied".
As I understand, these WD 1.5 Tb WorldBook Edition II HDDs cannot be formatted to OS X file system, so I believe the only option would be an automator script, which reads every single file from the database and change the special characters with accepted characters (one of the characters I used was slash "/").
Anybody could help with such a script or with any idea about how I can move the files to WD WB Edition II?
Thank you in advance.
