The system is a 20" iMac Intel (white), and when I booted up the computer yesterday, it came up with a gray screen with vertical dotted lines (almost like something was wrong with the video card). I googled it and found that it was probably a hard drive issue.

So, I whipped out DiskWarrior and ran it from the CD. It wasn't the video card because the screen looked fine when I booted from the DW CD. At about 50%, it had come up with 51 hard drive hardware errors (I forget what it said exactly), and then it got stuck there with the beach ball. I then rebooted and booted from the DW CD again. This time I clicked on the Hardware button and ran it. It said that everything was fine. Doesn't this contradict what it said in the above test?

Is the hard drive truly toast? If not, what could be the problem?

If it is the HD, then it was a Western Digital WD2500JS-40NGB2. This one is a great replacement for it, right?
