Can you change default icons?

This might be a stupid question:

Can you change the default icons? Like put in my own folder icon instead of the blue generic?

Choose in Finder what you want to change.

Click it and Apple-I.

Choose an icon and click Apple-I.

Choose the picture of the preview of the icon you want to use, copy it with Apple-C, then paste it (Apple-V) to the thing where you want to use it.

To undo, again Apple-I. Choose the icon in it, hit del and you find the original icon.

That changes the icons one by one - you might be interested in CandyBar software. You can change everything from your computer to trash cans with it. :)

An example of those candy bar changes (in finder window).
