Copying files from OS X to Windows

I'm having trouble copying the contents of folders from my iMac running 10.1.5 to either Windows XP or 2000.

It's OK copying individual files, but if I try to copy a folder which has sub-folders, I get an error message 'Couldn't find a required file'.

If I copy the files individually it's fine, but takes rather a long time.

Any ideas?

BTW Copying from Windows to OS X works fine.

why don't you try to use the mac os x built in ftp server ....

then you can access your mac os x box via Windows Internet Explorer ...

Or, much more nicely, using Windows command line FTP client (with mget and friends)

Maybe the prog dave is an alternative, but it isn't a cheap solution. The only problems I have is using a Win 9X (including ME) system. Coping huge files from the windows box to my mac is so damn slow. Vice versa it works like a charm. Maybe this problem is solved with the latest dave or MacOSX update.

There should be no need to use ftp, or Dave. I do this every day using the built in samba. There are several threads that tell you everything you need to know. It should work just as well whether you are networking through a router (as I am) or directly connecting the ethernet ports (straight or crossover it works with either).
