Hello,

Basically i started my MacBook Pro up this morning and i let it start up, as i attempted to hide a program and quit some others that had started up the dock vanished from view.

I then logged out and logged back in and the dock was still gone, i then tried to kill the dock via Activity Monitor and it still did not appear again. I have also noticed the Mac itself is now slightly sluggish and the icons in the finder panel on such sections as home have disappeared as well. Please help!

Regards,

Alastair

Have you tried repairing the permissions? Sounds very much like a permissions issue to me.

• In the Finder go to the 'Go' menu and select 'Utilities'.
• In the 'Utilities' folder double click on DiskUtility.
• In the window that opens, single click on your hard disk in the left column (usually called 'Macintosh HD')
• In the right window click on 'Repair Disk Permissions'.
• You may need to log out and in again when finished.

Hopefully this will restore everything to normal.
