DVDs not burning

I have a Dual 1.8 GHz PowerPC G5 running OS 10.4.9 and am unable to burn DVDs suddenly.

This is the message I get most of the time, followed by another error message that I have gotten less frequently:

Burning the disc failed because communication to the disc drive failed. (Error code 0x80020022)



The recording device reported the not ready error: Cannot write medium – incompatible format. (0x30, 0x05.)

Thanks for your assistance. I have tried many different stock and had the same results with each.
 
At one point does it give you that error? Does it happen when you just start to try and burn or is it another point in the burning process? Also, does it always happen at that point?
