Empty space or divider in dock?

I was just organizing my dock and got to wondering. Does anybody know how to add an extra space between dock icons or some sort of divider? I think that a blank space in the dock would be a very nice way to separate my catagories of apps. admin app, multimedia apps, browsers... etc.
 
I thought about that, but that is my last ditch effort. I didn't know if there was a better way. Looks like that's the way I'll be doing it for now.
