Error 36- while trying to delete files- help ^_^

Hi,

I have had this problem for a while now, whenever I want to delete a file from my desktop, i get error code-36. I don't have my mac connected to any external drive. I also repaired permissions and tried using the terminal commands that I found in answers to similar problems. While they worked for others, I get a terminal message saying no such file or directory. Please help me fix this problem, I now have tons of decuments, pics etc on my desktop, simply because I cannot delete them. :S
