I have a powerbook G4. I plugged it into a Sansui LCD TV/DVD combo player through the PC connection (as you would with a monitor). The TV went into standby mode as I left the computer connected. This then shut down my G4. Now my computer won't restart without the TV connected! In system preferences when I ask is to detect monitors it goes into the Shutdown window. I have dumped the PRAM and also reset the computer but it hasn't resolved the issue.

I have asked apple and they state that it is a hardware problem. I want to know if anyone have had this problem before?

When using the Sansui LCD TV/DVD, did you have it set up through System Prefs > Displays to have the Menu Bar on the external display? If so, this could be the problem, the Powerbook would be starting up ok, you just can not see anything. Start up with the external display plugged in, then go into System Prefs > Displays and drag the menu bar back to the Powerbooks' display. Hope this helps.
