Gradient Mask in Flash

Nummi

happy (again)
Hi all,

How do I create a gradient in flash, then use it as a mask to make an object fade away ? (In photoshop, you select layer>mask>showall, select the gradient tool, and drag a line. The objects opacity changes along with the gradient)

Thanks.

I found the answer... and I feel stupid. You can just import a png file with transparency. Duh

I was wondering how to do that. Never though of doing it that way. :p

Nooooo! I am stoopid! That is NOT what I wanted. I answered my own question incorrectly.

I need a mask to have a transparency. If you use a transparent PNG, you do not get the desired results.

Here is what I want it to look like, but with a mask: (attachment)

Did you ever get the transparent mask sorted?

I'm sure I've used a tutorial before that explained how to do this. If you are still struggling I can try and dig it out.

You can't have transparency in a mask. it is always a solid block. you could use a PNG file but dont use the layer mask in the timeline just have it as a regular layer.
