Can someone tell me where I can get firmware for my superdrive? These are the specs. I have an iMac G5 PowerPC.
PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K04L:
Firmware Revision: D441
Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipped/Supported)
Cache: 2000 KB
Reads DVD: Yes
CD-Write: -R, -RW
DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +RW, +R DL
Burn Underrun Protection CD: Yes
Burn Underrun Protection DVD: Yes
Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
Media: No
I'm so sick of waiting 2 hours just to burn a disc! I was glad to learn that I can "flash" it. I downloaded each of the DVRFlashX from http://lasvegas.rpc1.org/ (4 months ago) but everytime I try to run the file, it says "Sorry. There doesn't appear to be any suitable Firmware present for this drive." I tried to look for firmware but I can never find this specific model (the K04L). Any other alternatives I can use? I'm afraid of downloading files, unless they are actually for my specific drive. I don't want to render my drive useless.
Any kind of help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!
Also, I've read about making the dvd region-free. How do I go about doing this (if it is even possible). Thanks again!
EDIT: does anyone know the correct kernel and/or firmware for this type of drive? Please, can anybody direct me to another thread or site?
