or at least it sounds like it. I hear this horrible grinding sound and a huge vibrating coming from my HD.

Im not going to turn my comp off, what do i do?
 
Im having a bad feeling it was VPC running windows 2k. I got an erroneous startup from windows as it tried to hump my hfs+ harddrive. Im scared to turn my ibook off. Hrrm, the HD is loose inside my ibook. I feel that when I move the ibook the HD scrapes against it, like a frisbee.
 
Sounds bad, man -- I would backup as soon as possible (you do have some sort of backup, right?), then take the 'book to an Authorized Repair Center.

Are you sure the scraping noise is NOT from a CD ??
