I cannot install anything on my MacBook Pro

I got a Macbook pro for christmas, I was extremely happy with it untill recently where I found that I literally cannot install anything. For example I download the adobe flash installer and when I open the .dmg file i get to the point where it says choose Macintosh HD and then install. I click install and it doesn't do anything. I also cannot install from a cd/dvd. I do regular updates and am using OS X 10.6.2.

Try going to Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility

Open it and select hard drive on left.

Click repair permissions, reboot.

Can you install then?
