"Login Window Starting" Hang

Today, I started up my ibook, and right at the part of the startup where it says "Login Window Starting" it just hung there endlessly. I restarted several times, but still nothing. I ended up doing a format and install.

Hmmm... well, sounds like you fixed your own problem. Is this with the Panther beta? I'm assuming so, since its in this forum...

would be important to know the build number... i've had such a problem with one of the early builds (7B21, I believe...), but that was my own fault, as I've always tried to update from previous Panther builds, which Apple explicitly says one shouldn't do...

This is from a fresh install of 7B85. I had to do a clean install.
