Lost the application icon in the Finder?

I have just started using Leopard and tried to move the Applications folder icon onto the dock. It disappeared and I no longer have any application icon to access my applications. How do I fix this?

Hi Norm,

It's a pretty simple solution.

Go to Finder -> Preferences -> Sidebar

Just click the 'Applications' icon and you're done (look at the attachment). =)

Also, why are you moving your Applications folder onto the dock? Just a suggestion, why not move commonly used applications onto the dock instead?

But if you do want the applications icon back in the dock, navigate to the top level of your system -- hard drive or the name of your computer. Look for the Applications folder on the *right* not left side of your finder window. Drag the folder to the your dock, to the right of the dock separator.
