My local IP keeps changing, help!! (Airport)

Barking at the moon.
So I finally determined how to port forward, yay! Now my problem is that my Mac's local IP keeps changing, completely screwing up my whole port forwarding scheme. Is there a way to assign my computer a static local IP address with Airport?

I have OS 10.3.7 and my Basestation is the old-school silver one, if that makes any diff.

I tried enabling Airport to Ethernet bridging and my roommate's Mac lost his internet, so I had to use Distribute again. Is there another way to go about this?

Yep , set the airpot to only distribute a range of addresses like x.x.x.2 - x.x.x.100 then set you mac to use x.x.x.101 That way it will still use DHCP for your roommate and you can have a static IP for yourself.

Using bridging is the wrong approach because you also lose the ability to have more that one machine share an external IP.
