Real player!

I hate real media files like .rm and .ram. I can't find anyway to play them! To download real player you have to give your credit card # which is just ridiculous, out of the question for me since I don't have a credit card. And to convert them, the only solution I have found is an add on to ffmpegx

"If you want to encode from RealVideo sources with the mencoder engine, you should also install the reallibs package for ffmpegX 0.0.9u. This package is now optional because of its additional install complexity. First go on the Helix distribution page by clicking this link. From the list of builds you should select the latest "macos-gcc3-pb" / "All clients" link.

But the problem is when I go to the link, which is this page: http://forms.helixcommunity.org/helix/builds/?category=helixdnaclient

There isn't any macos-gcc3-pb :(

Does anybody know another place where I can download this ffmpegx add on, or another way to convert real media files on os x, or another program that can play them?

Try this link:

If it doesn't work, try this:

No need to enter credit card info. Go to realone.com and look near the top-right corner: there's a blue button that says "RealPlayer - Free." When you click it, you are asked to log-in or register. Although I registered a long time ago, I just entered a random email address and password under "New Customer" heading. Upon hitting "Start Here," I was taken to a page where I was asked to select a download location. Done.

You can also hunt through Version Tracker for mac software (http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx/). They seem to give the direct link for the download whenever possible, as they do in the case of the free Real Player. It's at http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/15540 (That page essentially directs you to the link Dusky provided above. I'm just providing a method of finding things on your own.)

If you subscribe to Version Tracker's RSS feed, http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx/recent.rss , you can also keep track of updates to software that you already have, without paying for a subscription to Version Tracker.

Huh? Did you miss the big, blue "RealPlayer - free" link in the upper right-hand corner of real.com?
