Reconfiguring the RETURN button

Here's a tough one: In Tiger, when clicking RETURN on a folder or a filename, it activates the Rename function. Where (or how) can I set RETURN to funtion just as double-click?

Heh... go back to using Windows -- that's one way! ;)

You can try using software like QuicKeys to reassign buttons or attach actions to certain buttons.

Command-o isn't good enough for you? Press command with the left thumb and the letter "o" with the ring finger.
 
Changing the return key might cause other issues down the road. You should probably leave it alone, and practice using Command+O for opening files. There are going to be differences between the Mac OS and Windows. Embrace them, don't try to change your Mac to be more like a Windows machine. You'll appreciate having learned the differences and you'll be able to use a Mac, regardless of where you go or what machine you use.
