Reconnecting iTunes to a New Drive?

Barking at the moon.
I just reinstalled OS X and moved my iTunes Music folder over to an external HD, along with the Music Library XML and DATA files. I changed the path in the iTunes prefs but it still doesn't load up my music, what am I missing?

I did the same with iPhoto and I'm not sure how to tell it where I'm keeping my photos. Urgh.
 
Okay well I figured out that by simply copying my old XLM and DATA files into the Music folder will fix iTunes.

iPhoto's still not finding my new photo library though.
 
As far as I know, iPhoto won't let you change the place it keeps the photo library like iTunes does.

I back up my photo library to an external hard drive, and simply copying the "iPhoto Library" folder back to the Pictures folder in my home folder does the trick for me. iPhoto immediately recognizes it.

What did you back up concerning your pictures, and where are you restoring it to?
