S.M.A.R.T. Status Verified but DU finds errors?!

S.M.A.R.T. Status says Verified but I am still getting this message:

Keys out of order
The volume Blue Apple needs to be repaired.

Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit

1 HFS volume checked
Volume needs repair

Background info, bought a used Power Mac G4 (AGP Graphics), I erased the 20GB hard drive (it was giving me this error before I erased), installed Tiger and updated all upgrades.

Anyone know why?
 
Have you tried repairing it.
Boot into single user mode, (hold down the cmd+S keys on power up).
Type "/sbin/fsck -fy" without the quotes, and press enter.

If it reports that it has found errors and repaired them, then repeat the above command. Repeat until it says the disk is good.

When down type "reboot" press enter.
