Sending To A Foreign Printer

I am using a G4 powerbook with Panther, I understand that I can send a document to pritn on a printer somewhere else if i have that IP number... I also understand that a printer would have an IP number if it is connected to the internet... so if i sent an email to 138,27.001.001 or whatever the IP numbr might be, it would be recieved and printed on that printer?

am I correct?

p.s. I want to be able to send documents to be published in India to a printer in India. am I too optimistic, probabaly.. jean
 
Not sure about the printing questions but you could send documents as an attachment and have the printer print them from his site rather than the more-complicated manner that you're asking about.
