Snow Leopard permissions strangeness...

I take my MacBook to work where it joins the wireless network, and uses network location to mount 2 network drives and a shared folder on my Windows machine.
All has worked well up until last weekend when Snow Leopard arrived. Now, when I try to copy from my shared folder onto my MacBook I get:

"The operation could not be completed because you don't have permission to access some of the items."

Now for the fun part... If I copy that file from my PC to a network share volume, delete the original and then copy back into my share folder on the PC then Mac will happily copy the file onto the desktop !?

In the copy back and forth Windows adds a group to the 'Security' pane in the file's 'properties' dialog, and Snow Leopard cares about it.

Is there any way to revert this to 10.5 Leopard behavior?
