Software Update not working

When I run software update on my Macbook(Leopard v.10.5.2), after checking for updates, it says "New software is available for your computer", but nothing is in the list. This has occurred to me repeatedly now. I've tried restarting, but that doesn't work. It says "Failed. Error occurred while checking" when I check preferences. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Same here, I can't update my iTunes! help - oh btw i know this didn't help but at least were in it together eh buddy? lol

To see if it system wide make a new test user account an d try SoftWare Update. See if that works. If it does then it could be something in a Preference file that became corrupted.

I tried it on the guest account. Works properly. The problem only persists in my account apparently. What do I do to fix this?

Download a maintenance program like Yasu or Onyx and clear the Software Update log. Also delete the file /YourHardDrive/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist , it might help.

Good Luck.
