Is there a way to stop spotlight reindexing every time i boot up my mac? it get annoy when spotlight indexing right after i get to desktop and my mac slow down to crawl and it take for firefox to load like in 5 min since spotlight is still indexing.

i dont mind it to indexing, but it dont need to do it everytime i boot up. is there a way to change it behavior like once a week?

Are you afraid of the Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal)? For free you can re-index your Spotlight search (to stop the broken index file Spotlight uses) by opening Terminal and typing: sudo mdutil -E /

Just put in your Administrator password in when ask. Let it run until you get another prompt to type (in Terminal). It will take a while (longer depending how big your hard drive is) so let it run before you quit terminal.

Good Luck.

Open System Preferences > Spotlight > Privacy tab, drag and drop your Home folder to the list. Or just click on the "+" to add your Home folder.
